Wearing a wedding ring on the right hand: what does it mean?

We've all noticed, at some point, that friend, colleague, or stranger we pass on the street or subway, sporting a wedding ring… on their right hand. Enough to pique our curiosity! A surprising tradition? A discreet message? A coincidence? This small detail, far from being insignificant, often hides a story, a cultural practice, or a very personal choice. What if this gesture revealed much more than we imagine?
A millennia-old tradition… not always on the same hand.

Since antiquity, rings have symbolized eternity, union, and commitment. In Egypt, they were associated with infinity. Later, among the Romans, the famous "vein of love" (vena amoris) was said to connect the left ring finger to the heart, establishing the left hand as the "hand of marriage." But this idea, however poetic, is not a universal norm!
