Dr. Quang warns: it is absolutely essential to stop jumping out of bed in the morning. Indeed, during sleep, the parasympathetic nervous system is active, the heart beats more slowly, contracts more gently, and blood pressure is lower than when awake.

If you wake up suddenly, the sympathetic nervous system is strongly activated, leading to an accelerated and intense heart rate, and therefore an increase in blood pressure. This increases the risk of small blood vessels in the brain rupturing, which can cause a hemorrhagic stroke.

Dr. Quang also recommends lying down for one to two minutes after waking up. He advises massaging your face, head, eyes, and neck before getting up.
